Denver Road Trips: A visit to Colorado's Western Slope |
Just up the road is a relatively new winery, Colterris. The name is a combination of Colorado and terris, meaning “from the land” in Latin. The vineyards, owned and run by the High family, currently offer just two wines, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, but look for more varieties in the future. The Highs also run High Country Orchards and you can find their peaches in metro area Whole Food stores now (3548 E. Half Road, Palisade; 970-464-1150).
