Where to Belly-Up at the National Western Stock Show
The 109th annual National Western Stock Show began this weekend and continues for two glorious boot-stompin’ weeks. Enjoy the show at the National Western Complex located near the junction of I-25 and I-70. But where does a modern cowboy or cowgirl find some hooch? Drink Denver is here to help!
Tivoli Beer: Local brewery Tivoli will have the Tivoli flagship beer and Sigi’s Buck Beer on tap in the main cafeteria and main bar throughout the show.
Bar & Grill: Full restaurant and bar located on the north side of the Expo Hall.
Cattlemen’s Grill: Cafeteria located in the Hall of Education 2nd Floor, West End.
Cowboy Bar: Serving up beer and spirits, this bar is located in the cattle barn, Hall of Education, 1st Floor. Drink specials are available from 10 AM to 4 PM daily.
Tack Room Bar: Also serving beer and spirits, this bar is located in the horse stall area in the Events Center, Aisle 7.
Pro Rodeo Events: Different professional rodeo events will be held nightly in the Denver Coliseum. Competition includes roughstock events like bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and bull riding and timed events such as tie-down roping, steer wrestling and women’s barrel racing. Here are some area bars and restaurants offering special events during the stock show.
The Corner Office: Just for the stock show, The Corner Office will feature a special cocktail for regulars and visitors. Just Another Goat Rodeo is made with Milagro Silver Tequila, Liquor 43, blackberry pepper, honey and lime with an orange twist and blackberry garnish. Yummy. Enjoy for $11 during the stock show. Denver Stockyard Saloon: The Saloon will offer live music every night of the stock show. They are also offering a whistle special of $2 beers at the bar, nightly prizes and the parking is free after 8 PM. (4710 National Western Dr.; 303-298-0525)
Grizzly Rose: The official nightclub of the stock show, this historic honkytonk will feature a great country artist every night of the stock show. This year, the Rose will have special National Western Nights including Stoney LaRue, Clay Walker and Aaron Waston. Stout Street Social: During the Stock Show run, guests at Stout Street can enjoy the Stock Show Smoked Special featuring a pint of Alaskan Smoked Porter with a slab of smoked prime rib for only $24.95. (1400 Stout St.; 720-214-9100)
Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar: Over in Stapleton, Keith’s country bar will have live music each night of the stock show. ViewHouse: During the run of the stock show, mosey over to the ViewHouse for the Cowboy Special, a 16 oz. T-bone steak with a choice of loaded baked potato or asparagus. For $8, pair the meal with the Boot Scoot Cocktail made with a healthy dose of Barcardi Rum, Malibu, Grey Goose Vodka, melon schnapps, pineapple juice and lemon lime soda. The Cherry Cricket: Saddle up for the Cowboy Cricket Special featuring a juicy half pound burger topped with smoked cheddar, western BBQ sauce, bacon and haystack onion strings. Humboldt Farm, Fish & Wine: During the stock show Humboldt is offering the Mutton Bustin’ Bolognese Special featuring succulent Colorado Lamb with crushed tomato, smoky bacon, mirepoix and red pepper flake over rigatoni, paired with a glass of fruity Alexander Valley Cabernet for $30.
