There's a good chance that drink you're sipping on might be the creation of the person behind the bar, instead of having been pulled from some standard recipe book. In an effort to create truly unique cocktails, bars and restaurants are turning to their own staff to find the next tasty concoction. Some places hold contests and choose a winner to add to the permanent menu after taste testing. Others have meetings where bar staff collaborate on drinks to come up with something new. As TAG Burger Bar manager Jake Kesler says, “Bartenders are the one who serve the drinks. They should have some say in how [the drinks] are made.” Either way, we drinkers reap the benefits.
