Where to Enjoy Valentine's Day in Denver (With or Without a Sweetheart)

Valentine’s Day has always been a day of special events. However, this year, Valentine’s Day is on a Saturday, so there will be an abundance of places to go, date or no date. So whether the two of you are celebrating a major anniversary or the singles are out on the prowl for next year’s valentine, here is where to hit the town for Valentine’s Day.

Comedy Works
This seminal fun house is offering special package shows for Valentine’s Day. At the downtown location, enjoy Scottish funny man, Daniel Sloss. Packages include the Lover’s Delight featuring two show tickets, a dozen roses and a heart-shaped box of chocolates; My Funny Valentine, which is two tickets and a dozen roses, while the Sweet on You includes two tickets and the box of chocolates. Swinging singles can buy tickets starting at $19. Package prices start at $58. (1226 15th St.; 303-595-3637)

The Crimson Room
Find a special partner at the Sexy Singles Masquerade Party on Valentine’s Day. Beginning at 7 PM, guests will enjoy Naughty Nectar Libations and sensual visual performance acts and music. There will also be an open bar and hors d’oeuvres. Guests are required to wear masks and be dressed in their “classiest Christian/Anastasia attire.” This event is for singles only and early bird tickets, available until February 7, are $99 for men and $89 for women. Ladies bring a friend for $159 or gents bring a wingman for $179. (1403 Larimer St.; 720-639-6987)

The Dive Lounge
Looking for something different for Valentine’s Day? Consider The Dive Lounge at the Denver Aquarium. Be mesmerized by the aquarium’s residents, while sipping that cocktail or wine. Only open until 9:30 PM, The Dive Lounge is perfect for having a drink before the big dinner or a unique starting place for the singles-only bar crawl.

Hard Rock Café
If you want to rock out for V-Day, head to the Hard Rock on the 16th Street Mall and have a picture taken with your favorite rock and roll king or queen (well, their cardboard cutouts, anyway). Enjoy live, classical guitar and some romantic rock ballads while sipping on the I Got a Crush on You cocktail. (500 16th St., Ste. 120; 303-623-3191)

Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret
Enjoy two different shows on Valentine’s Day. At 8 PM, Lannie herself hits the stage with The After Midnight Band in the Comes Love show featuring a collection of swing and nostalgia. At 11 PM, is Naughty Pierre’s Valentine Burlesque. Lannie’s 8 PM show also features a free dessert bar by Relish Catering at 7 PM. (1601 Arapahoe; 303-303-293-0075)

Mark Masri at Lone Tree Arts Center
The Boston Globe says Canadian tenor Mark Masri is “melting the hearts of female audience members like warm chocolate.” Well, get the girlfriends together and see his show on Valentine’s Day at 8 PM. Couples will enjoy it too, because the show will be a romantic evening of love songs from all over the world and feature a Champagne Intermission. Tickets run between $36-60 and can be purchased online. (10075 Commons St.; 720-509-1000)

Valentine’s Day Old School Revue
Casselman’s Bar & Venue downtown will host an evening of Old School Soul and Doo Wop for lovers and dancing singles alike. Enjoy the smooth sounds of The DeLeon Brothers Legacy Band in an unplugged opening set of Doo Wop classics followed by a sleek Motown performance by a special guest. Finish up the night with a Soul Train tribute and line dance contest. The party starts at 7:30 PM with DJ Johnny “Old School” Avila before the bands begin at 8:30. This event runs nightly through February 18 and tickets are only $10 online. (2620 Walnut St.; 720-242-8923

ViewHouse Downtown:  Singles can join the Anti-Valentine’s Day party complete with scavenger hunt inside the venue, all three floors. Get a game card and use the ViewHouse staff to complete it. The first contestants to turn in a completed card receive a spot at the VIP table for the Matt Mathanson concert the next day at the ViewHouse. DJ music starts at 9 PM along with other prize giveaways. (2015 Market St.; 720-878-2015)

ViewHouse Centennial:  Single, but looking? Then head to Centennial for the Lock & Key Singles Party starting at 10 PM on Valentine’s Day. Guys get locks while girls get keys and everyone has fun! Dance to a DJ and sip on the Strawberry Stilettos made with Grey Goose Vodka while searching for a matching lock and key. After finding a match, the couple is entered into a drawing to win a gift card for a return Date Night at the ViewHouse. (7101 S. Clinton St.; 303-790-VIEW)
