Where to Drink for the Rockies' 2015 Opening Day in Denver

Call the office, tell them you’re sick and get downtown for what many consider a national holiday. Our Colorado Rockies home opener is Friday, April 10, at 2:10 PM against the Chicago Cubs. There will be plenty of drink and food specials to go around, and many of our favorite places are opening early just for the occasion. Here's where to hang out for Opening Day 2015.

Blake Street Tavern
Just a stone’s throw from the field, Blake Street Tavern is opening at 9 AM on Opening Day, one of the earliest openings we have found. Blake Street will open the westside patio along with a northside beer garden for the day. (2301 Blake St.; 303-675-0505)

Cherry Cricket
For the home opener, enjoy the Double Play all day featuring a Coors Light and a shot of locally made Tin Cup whiskey for $8. (2641 E 2nd Ave.; 303-322-7666)

Cart-Driver
Located only five blocks from the ballpark, Cart-Driver in RiNo is offering Gourmet Mortadella Hot Dogs with sauerkraut and mascarpone mustard for only $5. Pair one with beer from local brewery, Prost, on tap along with other Denver brews, Prosecco on tap and Italian-style spritzes. (2500 Larimer St.; 303-292-3553

Jax Fish House
Jax is opening early for Opening Day. Get there at noon for Bacon Confit Chicken Wings, Sea Dogs (hot dogs) and Seafood Sliders specials all day. Happy hour will be extended from noon to 6 PM for Opening Day as well. Suck up Oyster Shooters for $3. Enjoy cocktails for $4, House Sangria for $6, $3 PBRs and $1 off all draft beers. (1539 17th St.; 303-292-5767)

Lucky Pie LoDo
The staff at Lucky Pie are going whole hog for Opening Day with a Tender Belly Pig Roast. The party starts at 11 AM and goes all day and night. The taproom will have special guests from Epic Brewing Company in the house and the brewery's new canned beers will be on sale. (1610 16th St.; 303-825-1021)

Randolph’s Restaurant & Bar
Located in the Warwick Denver Hotel, less than a one mile walk from the field, patrons can enjoy complimentary game day parking if spending $20 or more. With these game day specials, that should be easy to do! Enjoy a house-made Bratwurst with caramelized onions and roasted peppers with a side of crispy chips for $10. Then wash it down with local draft beers for $2 each. (1776 Grant St.; 303-318-7272)

Range/Teller Bar
If you’re here from out of town, Range at the Renaissance Hotel Downtown is celebrating Opening Day with happy hour all day long. The drink menu includes $4 Colorado draft beers, $5 cocktails featuring Colorado spirits (Breckenridge, Golden Moon and Dancing Pines) and $6 glasses of Denver’s own Infinite Monkey Theorem wines on tap. Next door at the Teller Bar, enjoy Blake Street Mojitos all week long. (918 17th St.; 303-876-8100)

Stout Street Social
The folks from Sandlot Brewery at Coors Field, the makers of Blue Moon beers, will be on hand during happy hour from 3 to 6 PM on Opening Day to hand out swag and offer free samples. (1400 Stout St.; 303-214-9100)

Tavern Downtown
The Tavern Downtown is offering Buy One, Get One for every Rockies home game this season. Simply come into the bar and enjoy any draft beer and receive a complimentary one when you bring in a same day Rockies game ticket. Offer is valid only at the Downtown location and only after the 7th Inning. One ticket per person, please. (1949 Market St.; 303-299-0100)

ViewHouse Downtown
With upper outside decks overlooking Coors Field, the ViewHouse downtown is one of Denver’s best baseball party spots. To celebrate baseball season, the restaurant will offer the Fastball Menu during all ball games, even away games, just ask your server. Treats include Red Bird Farms Chicken Strips, Proscuitto-wrapped mozzarella sticks and all kinds of gourmet dogs. Enjoy $3 Coors Lights, DJs, giveaways, photo booths and grilling stations set up throughout the facility. (2015 Market St.; 720-204-4202)

ViewHouse Centennial
Want to watch the game without the game day crowd? The ViewHouse Centennial is serving a $10 Opening Day special all weekend featuring the Rockie Dog with smoky gilled peppers, sautéed onions, mustard and sauerkraut with a 16 oz. Coors Light. Patrons can enjoy the game on the large, indoor, arena-sized TV without having to worry about the weather. (7101 S Clinton St.; 303-790-8439)

World of Beer LoDo
To celebrate the Rockies’ Opening Day, WOB in LoDo will be serving BEERunch from 9 AM to 3 PM with bottomless mimosas, beer-mosas and bloody mary’s. Avery, Great Divide, Upslope and other local breweries will be in attendance providing beers, prizes and meet and greets with owners and brew masters.  WOB will raffle off some Rox tickets as well. Happy hour will run from 4 to 7 PM with $1 off all drafts. (1555 Blake St.; 303-534-2337)
