6 Places in Denver Where Lonely Hearts Can Celebrate Valentine's Day
Last year DrinkDenver told you about all the great places to take your sweetie for Valentine’s Day. Well, not all of us have sweeties and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Since Val’s Day falls on a Friday this year, here is a list of places for lonely hearts to find sweeties or perhaps just avoid the holiday all together.
Candlelight Tavern (383 S. Pearl St.; 303-788-9530)
Probably the most un-romantic pub in all of Denver, this popular dive bar has pool tables, foosball and a shuffleboard table. With a happy hour that goes until 7 PM meet the co-ed sweeties from DU that like to hang out here for cheap eats and drinks.
Govnr’s Park (672 Logan St.; 303-831-8605)
For those looking for a sweetie, Gov’s is a great place to start. With a two-for-one happy hour on drafts, Long Islands, house wines and margaritas, there will be a lot of happy people here with and without sweeties. If the weather holds, sit on the patio and watch the sweeties walk by.
The Hornet (76 Broadway; 303-777-7676)
This centrally located bar on South Broadway is a great starting or ending point to a Valentine’s evening. Catch happy hour from 3 to 6 PM or catch a band late at night. Either way, lots of sweeties to ogle over. Free parking in back and metered parking is free after 6 PM.
Paramount Café (519 16th St.; 303-893-2000)
Located on the 16th Street Mall, this Denver institution will be full of both locals and tourists on Valentine’s. Just grab a seat at the 1950’s bar and drown your sorrows with some Big Nose Beers. During late night happy hour starting at 10 PM all draft beers are two-for-one. Maybe find some sweeties leaving the theater next door when the show is over.
Three Dogs Tavern (3390 W. 32nd Ave.; 720-854-1277)
This Highlands tavern has an abundance of pool tables and an awesome shuffleboard table for those who just want to hang out on a Friday night that just happens to be Valentine’s Day. Friday offers a late night happy hour from 10 PM to Midnight featuring $2 domestic drafts, $3 microbrews and $4 imports.
Wynkoop (1634 18th St.; 303-297-2700)
The Wynkoop brewpub has a second floor pool hall for those that want to get away from the couples dining below. You’ll find 22 regulation pool tables and several dart lanes and an upstairs bar with a full line of the Wynkoop’s beers. Get $1 off beers during happy hour, 3 to 6 PM.
