Boulder Burgundy Festival, October 27-28
No one can dispute that the Denver region is all about beer, or that craft distilling here is getting more robust by the month. However, the third part of the boozing trifecta — wine — is often overlooked. Master sommelier Brett Zimmerman is looking to change that by launching the annual Boulder Burgundy Festival, which has its inaugural event this weekend, October 27-28.
Zimmerman, who is also owner of Boulder Wine Merchants, has convinced a handful of the world’s most talented and renowned wine experts, sommeliers and winemakers to descend upon Boulder for a series of tastings, seminars and dinners. Vintners will be pouring several wines that are otherwise inaccessible in Colorado.
Though some of the fancy dinners are already sold out, tickets still remain for a 10 AM Saturday Seminar with importer Paul Wasserman at the Radda Trattoria ($75; get your morning started right) and an 11 AM Sunday seminar with winemaker Jeremy Seysses at the St. Julien Hotel. Proceeds will benefit educational nonprofit the Growe Foundation, so if you’re thinking of taking advantage of the snow and heading towards the mountains, make a stop in Boulder for some hearty red wine. Tickets are available here.
