Aldi Makes Global Award Winning Gin for Less than $15
Aldi, a German supermarket chain, has won gold for their affordable gin at the International Spirts Challenge (ISC) for the second year in row.
Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin retails in the UK for £10, which is less than 15 USD. Aldi describes the gin on its website as: “a clear, light crisp gin with rounded spice and a touch of juniper. Delicately infused and traditionally distilled for a clear, crisp and complex flavour.” Oliver Cromwell beat other popular spirits like Sipsmith and Beefeater that retail for more than double its price. The gin also recently won gold at the International Wine and Spirts Competition.
A spokesperson for the ISC told Daily Mail: “Aldi currently holds the ISC's title of 'Supermarket Own Branded Spirits Range of the Year', owing to its range being the best supermarket drinks performers in last year's competition, so we were delighted to see more products return this year. Receiving a gold medal is a fantastic achievement, and a testament to the quality of the spirits entered.”
Currently, Aldi does not sell liquor in its US stores, so you’re going to have to hop across the pond for this one.
