Chipotle is Testing a New Frozen Cocktail
Chipotle, the popular fast-casual Mexican chain, has begun to test a brand new boozy menu item—the frozen paloma margarita.
Currently, around half of Chipotle’s US based restaurants serve alcohol, with options that already include beer and frozen margaritas. The fast food purveyor is now trying to win over its customers via the paloma—a drink traditionally made with tequila and grapefruit soda. Chipotle’s version of the classic Mexican drink is a margarita hybrid made with Sauza Tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice and agave syrup blended with ice. The final product is served in a 14 ounce plastic cup, obviously.
According to one lucky taste tester from The Daily Meal, “When one editor tried the margarita for herself, she started feeling the buzz after finishing just half the glass (er, plastic cup). This slushy can make you sloshy.” They also said it was sugary, but still holds onto its tang.
The drink is currently being served at Chipotle’s NEXT Kitchen in New York City for $6.20. We apologize if you’re not fortunate enough to live close to Chipotle’s test kitchen, the rest of us will just have to wait and see if it makes its nationwide debut.
