This English Pub Has Created a Gin In Honor of the Royal Wedding

by Alexander Frane on Apr 3, 2018 in Liquor

While the Royal Wedding may be exciting for some Americans, it’s an even bigger deal in the UK, so much so that even pubs and distilleries are getting into it. The Queen Charlotte Windsor and Oak Taverns Ltd have collaborated on Gin&’er Gin, a ginger, lime flower, and lemon peel infused gin in honor of nuptials between the famously ginger Prince Harry and his bride-to-be Meghan Markle. The pub is located in Windsor, right near Castle Windsor and the St. George’s Chapel, where the royal couple are set to wed on May 19.

Oak Taverns doesn’t offer a clear pronunciation of the gin, writing that it’s up to interpretation. It suggests tonic water and lemon or ginger ale and orange for those who get their hands on a bottle, though its limited release will likely make that difficult; currently Gin&’er Gin is available at the Queen Charlotte, though Brides.com reports that the prince has already received a bottle, with other Oak Taverns pubs getting bottles soon.

This isn’t the first time the Queen Charlotte has developed a spirit for the local family—it also created the Guildhall Island Gin, for Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday. She then wrote a thank you letter back to the pub, in proper English tradition.
