This Sunday, March 4, the stars will shine at the 90th Annual Academy Awards as the year’s best in the movie industry get big accolades. This red carpet shindig deserves red carpet drinks and Denver’s bars and restaurants are up the challenge. Here are some places to observe the festivities and enjoy a cocktail before, during, and after the broadcast.
Emmerson
Nothing says old Hollywood like gin and at Emmerson in Boulder, award-winning cocktail artist Nancy Kwon created The Briar and the Rose, a floral cocktail with a deep red color made from Colorado’s Caprock Gin, Mathilde de Peach Liqueur, Strongwater Peach & Rose Shrub, a hint of Benedictine and a splash of rose water. This red carpet concoction has the perfect balance of floral and fruity to enjoy the awards. (1600 Pearl St., Boulder; 303-953-9852)
Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House
Speaking of red carpet, Del Frisco’s in DTC will open the Cigar Bar for guests to enjoy watching the awards in the bar’s plush seating areas and lounges. The bar will offer a Red Carpet Martini made with 360 Vodka, PAMA Pomegranate liquor, and a splash of cranberry. Reservations recommended for this event. (8100 E. Orchard Rd.; 303-796-0100)
Del Frisco’s Grille
While waiting to see who wins best actor sip on the Pomegranate Margarita at Del’s in Cherry Creek. The cocktail features pomegranate, a traditional symbol of wealth, prosperity and abundance, basically everything Hollywood. Prefer to sip some grape? The bar is also offering its house label wines, California Red Blend Cabernet, Petit Sirah and Zinfandel to Oscar patrons. (100 St. Paul St.; 303-320-8529)
Max’s Wine Dive
This is a wine bar after all, so Max’s is offering up the Red Carpet Pinot Noir Flight for $24. Sip on four fabulous reds including the Bichot ‘Vieille Vignes,’ Aolloni, Amici Black Forest and Landmark. Pair it with a cheeseboard while you watch the event. (696 Sherman St.; 303-593-2554)
Postino
Postino wants you to bring your crew with all day happy hour. That means $5 glasses of wine and pitchers of beer until the red carpet starts at 5 PM. Then post red carpet guests can enjoy glasses of bubbly Valor Cava or Hugo Sparkling Rose. If you are hosting a watch party at home, Postino’s has catering with meat and cheese platters and bruschetta boards. (2715 17th St.; 303-433-6363)
