Brunch Out at Bremen's Wine & Tap
Opened last summer, Bremen’s Wine and Tap in the Highlands serves American comfort cuisine and cocktails. Featuring the dishes of Executive Chef Isabel Ranney and Bar Manager Tayrn Miller, Bremen’s is unpretentious food and drink in a relaxing atmosphere. And what could be more relaxing than a long weekend brunch? Bremen’s is taking over brunching in the Highlands with a rotating menu of delicious eats and drinks that will satisfy all day long. What make’s Bremen’s brunch different is the addition of booze and it’s more than just mimosas. Bremen’s takes brunch drinking up a notch.
Brunch is a supposed to be a hearty meal and Bremen’s doesn’t disappoint in the portions department. The Croque-Madam is loaded with béchamel white sauce, gruyere, and ham on thick slices of rosemary sourdough bread with two sunny side up eggs on top. For starting the day with a kick, the Breakfast Burrito contains hash browns, rotisserie chicken, cheddar, tomatoes, arugula and salsa verde and one burrito could feed two people. Ranney’s Biscuits and Home Style Bacon Gravy are a breakfast classic served with a side of bacon. After this plate of comfort food, you won’t eat for a week. There are also vegetarian options on the menu, including a Black Bean Burger and Pancake Stack with Elderberry Syrup.
Finally, let’s get to the good stuff, Bremen’s brunch cocktails. Skip the rose and dive straight into Bremen’s Breakfast Negroni. With Campari and orange bitters, the Negroni was made for breakfast.
If you must bubble at brunch, Bourbon and Bubbles is a step above the standard Mimosa. Made with equal parts Maker’s Mark Bourbon and La Marca Prosecco, Miller drops a candied ginger in the bottom for extra bubbles and spice. While some may question bourbon for breakfast, this is a surprisingly delightful combination.
Those who want to go all out on bubbles can sit down to the The Champagne Toast featuring a bottomless Mimosa with your choice of orange, grapefruit or hibiscus paired with a French Toast appetizer for $15.
Since brunch wouldn’t be complete without a Bloody Mary, Bremen’s goes all out with tall iced glass of vodka mixed with house-made tangy Bloody Mary mix. The mélange is topped with a spear of cherry tomato, olive and jalapeno next to a celery stock and a slice of bacon. Patrons have a choice of Deep Eddy or Ketel One vodka, spice it up with Breckenridge Chili Vodka or change it up to a Bloody Maria with Casamigos Blanco.
The Brunch Cocktails, which range from $9 to $12, change monthly so keep an eye on the menu for new tastes and combinations. Regularly on the menu are three wine flights, roses, whites and reds for $12 and $15 and a collection of bubbly and roses, four of each are by the glass.
Bremen’s Wine and Tap is located at 2005 West 33rd Avenue and brunch is both Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 4 PM.
