Where to Imbibe in Denver on Black Friday
Black Friday is when the Christmas shopping season officially begins. You know the drill; cutthroat sales, crowds, pushing and shoving. Not an easy way to spend a precious day off of work. DrinkDenver to the rescue! If you must go shopping on Black Friday, November 24, below is a list of breweries, taprooms, and pubs that are near Denver’s largest shopping centers so you can relax post shopping with a refreshing adult beverage or two. If you’re a power shopper, you can use these places to regroup before the evening rush. Either way, remember to enjoy responsibly.
Aspen Grove, Littleton
One of Denver’s largest breweries is just down the street from this mall, Breckenridge Brewery and Farmhouse. Here shoppers will find both sudsy beer and hearty sustenance. If the day is warm, shoppers can relax on the outdoor patio and play some bags. If you’re looking to the suburbs to hang out, Grist Brewing Company and Living the Dream Brewing are on the south side of C-407 on Sante Fe Drive and both have a variety of adventurous brews to sip while you recover from binge shopping. On the north side of Aspen Grove is family-friendly Locavore Beer Works also with a great patio and opens at 11 AM on Friday. (Santa Fe and Mineral)
Belmar, Lakewood
Crazy Mountain Brewery of Eagle just opened up taproom next to the ice rink at Belmar Shopping Center so the kids can skate while you watch sipping a beer from the comfort of the brewery’s heated patio. Taproom opens at 2 PM on Friday. Just down the street on Wadsworth Caution: Brewing will open at 11 AM and tap its latest beer, Gingerbread Stout, made with actual gingerbread cookies. (Alameda and Wadsworth)
Cherry Creek, Denver
Crazy Mountain Brewery also opened up taproom near Cherry Creek on Colorado Boulevard. If you prefer the comforts of an English pub, Bull and Bush Brewery on Cherry Creek Drive has been serving British pub favorites since 1971. After fighting the traffic for a parking spot in Cherry Creek, you’re going to need a hard beverage. (1st Ave. and University)
Colorado Mills, Lakewood/Golden
You don’t have to go far to find great beers after shopping because the Yard House is attached to the mall. With 100 beers on the menu, there is something for everyone. If you choose to head into Golden to see what’s brewing, Barrel and Bottles Brewery downtown Golden serves both their own beers next to fellow Jefferson County breweries like Green Mountain and Holidaily. Did we mention B&B also has wine on tap? (West Colfax and I-70)
Stapleton Northfield, Denver
On the eastside of town enjoy a morning of shopping at Northfield and then head for brewery Station 26 at 1 PM. The brewery will host its inaugural Black Friday Invitational for its famous Dark Star Imperial Stout. This year 10 Dark Star variants will be released. Tickets are $55 per person and include 2.5-hours of tasting and 13 drink tickets for three ounce pours of Dark Star in a commemorative Black Friday glass. Eight other local breweries will also participate. (I-70 and Quebec)
Park Meadows, Denver Tech Center
Resolute Brewing Company just north of the mall on Yosemite is hosting a beer tapping on Black Friday if you want to skip the mall all together. The brewery is inviting shoppers and non-shoppers to enjoy a tapping of its Vanilla Chai Brown at noon. Those who are first-come, first-serve will received a limited-edition pint glass. Just outside the mall, Lone Tree Brewing Company is nearby on Park Meadows Blvd. Note, Grist has also opened a taproom at Park Meadows that they call Grist Lab. Find it next to the Rio Grande restaurant. (I-25 and County Line Rd.)
16th Street Mall/Denver Pavilions
Because its downtown, there are a variety of places to eat, drink and relax on Black Friday. However, if you’re a discerning shopper looking for something unique, check out the Denver Christkindl Market on the mall at Skyline Park. Here you can drink while shopping hand-crafted gifts and other items. Inside the heated tent enjoy authentic German entertainment and food and drink, including German beers and mulled wine served in souvenir mugs. (16th and Arapahoe)
