A 100-Year-Old British Man Won Beer For Life
A landlord at a Manchester pub promised a then 92-year-old Arthur Johnson, about eight years ago, that when he turned 100 he’d be entitled to free beers for life. As luck turns out, Johnson, a former army tank driver, has now surpassed 100 years and the barkeep has kept his promise.
The centenarian beer-lover has become somewhat of a local celebrity, stopping by the pub every day to collect his due. The pub’s landlord, Mark Canny said, “I made this promise of free beer for life about six or seven years ago not expecting that he would be at the pub every day of the week. My profits have taken a downward spiral!”
“He’s not just a customer, he’s a drinking buddy, he was at my wedding last year,” said Canny, depicting the type of relationship we would all like to have with our barkeeps.
As for Bunny, he said he has no plans of stopping his daily routine any time soon.
