Celebrate Autumn in Denver with Fall Cocktails

A Taste of Fall

Autumn is a time of change, between leaves, cooling weather, and new cocktails — and the latter is because new and exciting seasonal ingredients show up in Denver bars and restaurants. If you are looking to get into the fall spirit, try these delicious drinks at some of the city’s finest establishments.

AppleJack Rabbit at Bittersweet
Sip a taste of fall near Wash Park with this mixture of Nobel-Dam Calvados, orange, lemon, and maple syrup. Enjoy it on the patio before the snow shows up for only $9. (500 E. Alameda Ave.; 303-942-0320)

All Hallows Eve at The Crimson Room
This cocktail tastes like Halloween in a glass. Made with pumpkin, spiced rum, orange liquor and topped with whipped cream, the cocktail will put the surliest of Halloween ghosts in a festive mood. Enjoy for $14 during the month of October. (1403 Larimer St.; 720-639-6987)

Black Manhattan at Sugarmill
Over in RiNo, enjoy a seasonal sipper called the Black Manhattan at Sugarmill. It’s a little savory treat served up at this dessert shack. Made with only two ingredients — Bulleit Rye Whiskey blended with bitter orange Amaro CioCiaro — it costs $9. (2461 Larimer St.; 303-297-3540

Frankenstein and Jersey Boys at Teller Bar
The Teller Bar at the Renaissance Denver Hotel features special cocktails that coincide with the Denver Center for Performing Arts’ Fall Broadway musical schedule. For October, that feature is the Frankenstein, made with fresh lime juice, yellow watermelon simple syrup, basil leaves, Tequila Dos and green Chartreuse served in a rocks glass. In November, drink up with Jersey Boys, a mix of Apple Jack Brandy, fresh lime juice, Luxardo and real Grenadine served over ice in a rocks glass. Theater Series cocktails are $12. (918 17th St.; 303-867-8100)

Green Chile Margarita at Rialto Café
Nothing says fall quite like spicy green chile. Enjoy some in drink form with the Green Chile Margarita made with St. George Green Chile vodka, Grand Marnier, Lime juice and sour mix. Keep things hot while it gets cooler for only $8.50. (934 16th St.; 303-983-2233)

Horse’s Neck at Appaloosa Grill
Need to warm up your bones as the weather cools? Sip the Horse’s Neck made with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, ginger ale, lemon, bitters and served on the rocks. At only $7, this drink goes well with the live music featured nightly. (535 16th St.; 720-932-1700)

Pear Pomegranate Cooler at Thirsty Lion Gastropub
Both locations of the Thirsty Lion will feature this new cocktail on the Fall Fresh Sheet menu. Made with Absolut Pear Vodka, Prosecco, pear puree, pomegranate juice, simple syrup and sliced pear, it is the perfect patio sipper for brisk afternoons. Enjoy for $8.50. (1605 Wynkoop St., LoDo; 303-623-0316 and 201 Columbine St., Cherry Creek; 303-377-7000)

Worm’s Wild Ride at Beatrice and Woodsley
With a name like that, how can you refuse this fall drink? The Worm is served on the rocks with Leopold’s NY Apple Whiskey, James Oliver Rye, cinnamon simple syrup, lemon juice and soda. Regularly $11, enjoy during happy hour for only $6. (38 S. Broadway; 303-777-3505)
