Former Future Announces First Black Project Release Date for 2016

Welcome to Dreamland

The first 2016 Black Project ale from Former Future Brewing Company will actually be two releases for double the fun. Co-Founder Sarah Howat made the announcement recently and the release date is scheduled for Sunday, January 17.

“We will be releasing two different beers for the first time on Sunday, January 17th. Both will be limited. Per person bottle limits will be estimated closer to release and finalized day-of. All beers and date subject to change.”

The first release is Peach Rye Dreamland, Sour Golden Ale with Peaches and aged in a fresh AD Laws Secale Rye Barrel. The beer will be in 375mL bottles, corked and caged, and expected to cost $12 per bottle. According to Howat, this beer was created along with Blueberry Dreamland to commemorate the launch of the Dreamland base. While this version took longer to condition in the bottle, the Howats say it is now ready. The taste is “peach funk, oak, tartness, and a noticeable rye whiskey character.”

The second release is the Mach-Limit Tempranillo. This beer is part of the brewery’s revolving fruit series and is a heavily-fruited sour beer. The beer was made in collaboration with Red Fox Cellars & Vineyard from Palisade. The vineyard provided the Tempranillo grape must while Former Future supplied a blend of mature sour beers. Howat says to expect a bold, earthy, black cherry and currant taste with herbal notes, a dry tartness, and a wild yeast “funk” from the brewery’s coolship microbes. The Mach-Limit Tempranillo will be released in 750mL bottles, also corked and caged, for $28 per bottle.

“Super interesting to drink,” says Howat. “A little like the wine, a little like the beer. The two parts end up tasting like a super complex, funky sangria – in the best possible way.”

Scheduled release time is 12 PM on Sunday. Follow the Black Project on Facebook for the latest updates on this special double release.
