One of Denver’s premier food and wine festivals will end the summer event season when the 11th annual Denver Food and Wine Classic takes over the Metropolitan State University Campus downtown September 9–12. Oenophiles will enjoy great local, regional, national, and international wines while pairing them with food from Denver’s best restaurants.

Wednesday, September 9, is the Sunset Idea House Tour. Have a cocktail and wine tour inside the 2015 Sunset Idea House by Sunset Magazine. Cuisine provided by top chefs at Boulder’s Blackbelly Restaurant, and Denver’s Panzano and Beast + Bottle. Featured guest is Chef Gabe Kennedy, a Boulder native who won The Taste on ABC. Tickets are $125 and the event is from 6–9 PM.

The Panzano Wine Pairing Dinner is Thursday, September 10, at the restaurant. The evening will feature dishes from award-winning celebrity chef Rick Tramonto and Panzano Executive Chef Elise Wiggins. Tickets for the General Seating are $100 and include a signed copy of Tramonto’s cookbook. Seats at the Chef’s Counter are $125. Seats can be reserved by calling Panzano at 303-296-3525.

Friday, September 11, get an education at the popular Riedel Glass Seminar. Learn from Riedel Glass Ambassador Doug Reed on the relationship between the shape of the glass and our perception of the wines in it. Learn how stemware becomes the delivery system for a wine’s bouquet, taste, balance, and finish. After class take home your own 4-glass kit valued at $120.

Also on Friday is the big “End of Summer” Cocktail Party sponsored by Alice 105.9. The party will feature an “Art of the Cocktail” competition, outdoor cook-out, and entertainment. Tickets are $55 per person.

Then on Saturday, September 12, is the main event, the DWF Grand Tasting. Indulge in dishes from over 35 of Denver’s best restaurants and wash them down with over 700 different wines and spirits. There will also be culinary and wine tasting demonstrations. VIP guests can enjoy the VIP Lounge with special cuisine from 10 upscale restaurants such as The Oceanaire, Aspen’s Cache Cache, and The Broadmoor Hotel of Colorado Springs. There will also be specialty wines selected by Southern Wine and Spirits Master Sommeliers to go with the dishes. The event is from 1 to 4 PM, and tickets are $95 per person for General Admission and $250 per person for VIP. There are also “First Taste” Tickets that allow entry to the event at noon for $125 per person. All tickets can be purchased from the website.
