The 6th Annual 1940s White Christmas Ball Returns to Denver, Dec. 5

Denver’s biggest Christmas party returns for a 6th season on Saturday, December 5, as the 1940s White Christmas Ball returns to Denver. See the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum turned into a winter wonderland of snow and magic for a nostalgic night of music, dancing and fun.
The 1940s White Christmas Ball was created by Boulder resident Khyentse James to celebrate the culture, music, and fashion of her grandparents in that joyful time shortly after World War II when the tough fighting boys returned home to the girls who grew up and grew wild.
The event will feature live entertainment and music of the era. Acts include The Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra, The Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, Jeremy Mahoney Swing Band, The Blue Stocking Burly Q, 23 Skidoo, The Forty Thieves of Colorado, Boulder Swing Project, The Ladies and Gentlemen, and feature an impressive group of impersonators including Derek Evilsizor as Frank Sinatra, Steven St. James as Dean Martin, Janet Valentine as Marilyn Monroe, and Nicholas Brooks as Sammy Davis Jr.
Also a part of the fun are several contests with prizes including a social media photo contest, outfit contest, dancing contest, and a 1940s Pin Up Pageant. Enjoy delicious eats from specially chosen food vendors. Gals who want to “Do” it up can come early for a 1940s Ball Starlet Salon and get their hair done right by professionals.
General Admission tickets are only $45 per person. Food and drink are PAYG. Groups can also purchase special reserved tables for the night. A VIP table for two people includes admission, a group swing dance lesson at the beginning of the night, confirmed formal table in the VIP section by the stage, VIP catered dinner, private VIP bar, two drink coupons per person, and VIP only black jack table and complimentary horse drawn sleigh ride and parking. VIP for two is $250. Groups of up to 10 people can reserve tables as well. Singles can also share a VIP reserved table for $150. Group table information and reservations can be found on the website. Hotel packages with shuttle service are also available.
As always, 1940s attire is strongly encouraged and tips and tricks for getting the “look” are available on the website. However, if guests have trouble finding attire, here are some suggestions: Women can wear a modern dress with a “vintage” cut or style while pairing it with vintage jewelry and/or hair. Men can wear modern suits, but touch them up with a fedora hat, bow tie, or suspenders.
Doors open at 4 PM for seniors, VIPs, and those wanting to take the FREE Swing Dance lesson. General Admission begins at 5 PM. Christmas horse-drawn sleigh rides begin at 5 PM and only cost $5 per person. The Big Band music starts at 6:50 and will go deep into the night. The 1940s White Christmas Ball is a non-profit organization and net proceeds from the event are donated to The Wounded Warrior Project and The Spirit of Flight Center Colorado.
