New Kickstarter Makes It Easier to Lose Your Bottle Opener

by Ryan Hudak on Apr 21, 2015 in Culture

A new Kickstarter has taken off for the PiCOa bottle opener the size of your fingertip. The Kickstarter fund has raised an astounding $132,000 (with an opening goal of a mere $3,000) for what will be the easiest thing you’ll ever lose. Let’s face it – there’s a reason breweries always have a table full of bottle openers at beer events, and there’s a reason you always grab one. Bottle openers are constantly getting lost and misplaced, and this should be no exception.

From the promotional video, which is 27 seconds of showing items the PiCO is as small as and 3 seconds of showing how it actually works, you’ll need to attach it to a keyring to actually get it to do anything.  But don’t worry – the company is offering keyrings for a scant $3 add-on. But if you want to actually spend $3 on a key ring, please let us know, because it seems like we’ve got a pile of them in every drawer in the office.

Finally, they had to add some cool features to justify all the money they were being pledged, so now you can get your PiCO in a denim blue anodized finish or made from folded Damascus steel. Both are great visual options for something being touted as so small and unassuming. And while we’re sure this is a great product and will come in handy, maybe the free bottle openers that breweries can’t seem to stop giving away would be a more financially responsible option.
