Hendrick's Gin To Debut Flying Cucumber Airship

by Ryan Hudak on Apr 17, 2015 in Culture

Hendrick’s Gin has decided to take on air travel with its very own blimp—and not, as one would assume, for a Red Bull Flugtag-esque event. They say the dirigible—shaped like a giant cucumber—will take on the “mundanity of modern travel”, because not going as far or as fast as anything we have readily available to travel in is so much more exciting! Next up, maybe they’ll debut the Hendrick’s Handcart to really stick it to trains.

The flying cuke will be hitting up a handful of major cities (including Drink Nation locales Philly, New York and the Jersey Shore), and if you post a picture of it to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtags #HENDRICKSGIN or #CUCUMBERCHALLENGE (which we really hope hasn’t been used yet), you can win a relaxing trip on the blimp, which comes with a stocked bar and someone to make you cocktails as you slowly glide over your city. Other prizes will also be awarded, so even if you’re not jumping up and down to ride in a humongous cucumber, snap a pic if you happen to see it.

While the promotion may seem a bit odd, it is at least original and may appeal to many people—unlike Budweiser’s string of recent absolute misses. And since Hendrick’s just happens to be a delicious gin, be sure to snap a photo and hashtag it to win some prizes. But please, for the love of god, keep the #CUCUMBERCHALLENGE hashtag PG.

Check out the announcement video below, and let us know your thoughts about this flying veggie on Facebook or Twitter
