Breckenridge Brewery Is Crafting a Special Beer for 2015 Denver Comic Con
Denver Comic Con just gets bigger and better every year. This year, the three-day event runs from May 23–25 at the Denver Convention Center. One of the event's most active sponsors is Breckenridge Brewery, and each year Breckenridge has created a special beer just for the event. For 2015, that beer will be the Hulk’s Mash, and the brew will debut Friday, May 1, at the Capitol Hill location of The 1Up on 717 E Colfax at 7:30 PM.
The beer is a pale ale made with mango puree and Mosaic hops. While it sounds mild-mannered, this beer packs an aromatic punch of mango, lemon, citrus and earthy pine. This is a beer that is “heroically” hoppy.
As in past years, the brewery held a naming contest, and this year's contest received 700 entries. Five were selected as finalists and put to a public vote. “Hulk’s Mash” by Jonathan Cooper was the chosen one. There was also a label artwork contest, sponsored by Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design. Students at RMCAD were invited to participate, and this year's winner was Trevor Plaza. His design will also adorn limited-edition commemorative pint glasses. The first 200 people to attend the Hulk’s Mash Release Party will all receive a glass with purchase of the beer. The glasses and the beer will then be on sale at Comic Con.
Select Denver pubs will carry the beer and offer a limited supply of glasses during Comic Con weekend. Find Hulk’s Mash at Breckenridge Colorado Craft, Hard Rock Café, Hyatt Regency, Marlowe’s, Paramount Café, Pizza Republica, Tarantula Billiards, both location of The 1Up (LoDo and Colfax), Tilted Kilt and World of Beer.
Denver Comic Con has been held since 2012 and is Denver’s premiere pop-culture fan experience. It covers the world of comic books, film and related media and is brought to Denver by Pop Culture Classroom. Special guests will include Lou Ferrigno, Sean Astin, Christopher Lloyd, Nichelle Nichols, Lindsay Wagner and many, many more. This year the event is expected to bring 90,000 fans to the Colorado Convention Center. Learn more at the Denver Comic Con website.
