This week: How to Make a La Floridita Daiquiri
The La Floridita Daiquiri is a testament to how one simple ingredient can completely change the dynamic of a cocktail. The substitution of Maraschino Liqueur adds a complexity to the classic daiquiri making it a little more interesting to taste. This is just one of the many daiquiri variations that spurred from the “Bar La Floridita,” in Cuba at the turn of the century.
Ingredients:
Fresh Lime juice
1:1 Maraschino syrup
White Rum
Cherry garnish
Step 1 of 6:
Add 3/4 oz fresh lime juice
Step 2 of 6:
Add 3/4 oz maraschino syrup (equal parts maraschino and simple syrup)
Step 3 of 6:
Add 2 oz White Rum
Step 4 of 6:
Fill shaker 2/3 full with ice and shake hard for 7-10 seconds
Tip: This drink has a bit more alcohol content than your classic daiquiri so give it an extra long shake to smooth things out.
Step 5 of 6:
Strain into a coupe glass
Step 6 of 6:
Garnish with Marashino cherry
Enjoy!
