Come Together for the 2nd Annual Collaboration Fest, March 21

Hall and Oates, Batman and Robin, Cheech and Chong--some of the greatest things in life are partnerships. In the craft beer word, breweries form informal partnerships with competitors, which usually turn up in glasses and growlers as collaboration brews.

And for the second year, the Colorado Brewer's Guild and Imbibe have gotten together to bring Denver the 2015 Collaboration Fest.

The concept of the festival is for out-of-state breweries to partner with an in-state beer maker on a collaboration beer. Last year's festival was a complete malt-and-hops blast that featured some of the best beers to be found at any of Colorado's myriad beer festivals. About 1,200 beer lovers had 50 collaborations to sample at the festival, which included collaborations with breweries from as far away as Sweden.

For 2015, organizers have made one major change to the festival as far as I can tell—moving the location from a downtown Denver hotel to Sports Authority Field, which should supply more room for more collaborations.

The list of participating brewers features some rarities for Colorado: Devil's Backbone of Virginia and Cigar City of Florida, plus many of your Centennial State favorites.

Beer snobs—in Denver or anywhere else—will find this event worth checking out, so scoop up tickets before they become scarce. The Collaboration Fest will be 3–7 PM, March 21, at the Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Tickets are on sale now at www.collaborationfest.com.
