Caution: Brewing Opens a Second Location in Lakewood
Last week saw the somewhat impromptu grand opening of Caution: Brewing’s second location in Lakewood. Though the debut came very last minute and was announced only on social media, it was met with great excitement from the community. When DrinkDenver dropped by, we found a full house enjoying good craft beer in the suburbs.
With the final building inspections done earlier in the day, Owner/Head Brewer Danny Wang couldn’t be happier. His reasons for choosing Lakewood?
“No one else was here, it’s a great location and we live here!” Wang said about his second location.
The new Lakewood outpost is just a five-minute walk from his house, and it sits just south of the Belmar shopping area. Now the neighborhood, and those passing through to shop nearby, can enjoy the great beers Caution has been brewing for the past few years. Wang says he has some new ideas up his sleeve too.
“The 'East' location will continue to brew our flagship beers,” Wang explained. “With our smaller 3 BBL brewing system [in Lakewood], we’ll be making more experimental beers.”
Lookout Lakewood: You're in for a treat.
Caution: Brewing is best known for an Asian-spiced lager called Lao Wang Lager, named after Wang’s father. The beer was originally brewed for use in his father’s noodle restaurant on south Federal. The beer has since become one of Denver’s most distinctive brews and will soon be available in cans. This Asian-American lager is truly unique and will go with most any dish because of the complexities of the flavors it offers.
Caution has five flagship brews, all available at the new location. Besides the lager, Caution offers the Wild Blonde Ale, the Honey Matrimony Brown Ale, the Toaster Bat Black Smoked Robust Porter and, our personal favorite, the Hippity Hops IPA. Wang brought a keg of one of his barrel-aged beers, the Project #3 Cherry Stout, to the Lakewood location and it sold out in mere hours.
Caution: Brewing in Lakewood will be open 2 to 10 PM weekdays and noon to 10 PM Fridays and Saturdays. The brewery allows outside food from area restaurants including Wing Stop, NY Pizza and El Tapatio. Follow their Facebook or Twitter pages for updates on new and unique brews from both locations. Beers are $5, $3 for 9 oz. pours, and growlers are available in 32 oz. and 64 oz. bottles. Join their VIP Growler membership program for discounts on refills and first-to-know updates regarding new beers and specials (1057 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Unit 60, Lakewood).
