Recycle to Win: Patron Offers $10,000 Prize for Best Bottle Art
The short-necked cube shape of Patron tequila is pretty unique among liquor bottles, and arists and crafty people have been repurposing the rounded-corner glass squares for years. The Las Vegas company that makes and imports Patron from Mexico took notice. This spring you can enter the Art of Patron contest for a chance to win $10,000.
From now through April 30, entries are being accepted for the best creative use of an empty Patron bottle. From clocks to chandeliers to vases to chalices, submissions are already pouring in. All you need to do is get your hands on a bottle — you don't even have to buy one, just ask around at bars — and make something. Or you can simply create art that includes a depiction of the Patron bottle.
Write a short essay about your work and upload it with the photo to the Patron Social Club, and you’ll be entered to win. There will be 25 semifinalists chosen by a panel of judges, and then popular vote will choose the 10 finalists, who will each receive $1,000 each. The top vote-getter will receive the grand prize of $10,000.
Give a booze bottle a second life, win cash and get art. Not a bad deal, all around.
