Find Your Way to Lost Highway Brewing
For a few years now, the grand opening of the Lost Highway Brewing Company on Denver’s Colfax Avenue ran the risk of turning surreal like a David Lynch film. Rumors of its launch came and went, and while signs teased beer fans for months, no suds flowed. It was the brewery without beer.
In November, though, Lost Highway opened. Beer fans and foodies alike will be happy to know that Lost Highway is also owned by the same people who own the Cheeky Monk—a Belgian Beer Café well known to the Denver beer crowd for great food and a great selection of Belgian beers.
While it took a long time, the wait was worth it. The beautifully refurbished taproom can house plenty of drinkers, and sports the old-school video game Galaga. Patrons, for now, will be allowed to order select items from the Cheeky Monk menu, which instantly places Lost Highway’s food selections among the best of Denver’s many taprooms. Lost Highway will also offer several cheese and meat plates to snack on whilst sampling the house brews.
Beers will largely focus on Belgian styles, but Lost Highway plans to venture out to plenty of other styles, too. The bartender mentioned that the brewery has a slate of four possible regular beers, each with Denver-centric names: Golden Ghost Golden Ale (7% ABV), Longest Wickedest Wit (5% ABV), Grave Robber Fraud Quad (9% ABV) and District 6 Pils (5% ABV). Other beers on tap at the time of my visit included Belghost IPA (6% ABV), 520 Copper Lager (6% ABV) and Varicose Alley Belgian Amber (7% ABV).
Lost Highway offers samples for $2 and pints and snifters will start at $5. Growlers are available for purchase or refill. The taproom will be open Mon–Wed, 3 PM–9 PM; Thu, 2 PM–10 PM; Fri, 2 PM–Midnight; Sat, Noon–Midnight; and Sun, 1 PM–7 PM.
