Rare Beer Here! Tickets Available Now for the Denver Rare Beer Tasting, Oct 3

To live in Denver…is to one day complain about how big it’s getting. That same sentiment goes for fans for the Great American Beer Festival. It’s undoubtedly the king of beer festivals, but for Denver beer fans, tickets are much more difficult to get because the GABF has grown so big.

Now, most Denver and Colorado beer lovers make do with myriad smaller events that provide tastes as every bit as good as what’s being poured inside the Colorado Convention Center. One of those events is the Denver Rare Beer Tasting—an annual fundraiser by the nonprofit Pints for Prostates that’s designed to raise prostate cancer awareness.

This year’s tasting showcases 50 breweries sharing some of their rarest offerings—many of which aren’t to be found at the GABF. Breweries participating include: AleSmith, Allagash, Alaskan, The Bruery, Dogfish Head, Elysian, Harpoon, Jester King, Jolly Pumpkin, Laughing Sun, Stone, Sierra Nevada, Maui, Oskar Blues and The Lost Abbey. There are plenty of others, large and small.

“The Denver Rare Beer Tasting is about the passion and craftsmanship behind some of America’s hardest-to-find brews,” said Rick Lyke, founder of Pints for Prostates. “These talented craft brewers bring out some amazing exotic and vintage beers to help us raise awareness about a disease that impacts nearly 240,000 men annually in the United States.”

“Funds raised at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting are used to fund free men’s health screenings and for support groups for men and their families fighting the disease” Lyke said. “We reach men through the universal language of beer.”

Admission includes a tasting glass, T-shirt, program, pen and buffet lunch. There’s more to the event, so check out the website for more information. For non-natives, the Rare Beer Fest also can augment your visit to a GABF session, thus rounding out your Denver beer-cation.
