10th Anniversary Denver Gorilla Run, October 26

Celebrating its 10th anniversary is downtown's most popular Denver Gorilla Run on Saturday, October 26. Lace up your sneakers and put on a gorilla suits for a 5k road race and party. This year event organizers hope to break a Guinness World Record for a gathering of people all wearing gorilla suits. The current record is 1,061.

This 5k race is for all ages and will start and finish at the Wynkoop Brewing Company in Lodo. Registration starts at 9 AM and the race begins at 11 AM. After the finish, enjoy the Silverback Block Party where the entire block of Wyknoop will be closed down between 17th and 18th Streets for food, refreshments and live music. A beer garden will also be set up and participants 21 and older will receive a free beer ticket for the Wynkoop's Silverback Pale Ale with their registration. For those who don't feel like running, tickets to the block party are $10 each.

Registration for the event is $99.95 and includes the gorilla suit. Returning participants who already have suits pay only $40. Fees will increase by $10 on October 25. Check the website for suit sizes and other pertinant information.

All proceeds will benefit the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund, an organization that is devoated to protecting the endangered mountain gorillas of Africa. The Wynkoop's Silverback Pale Ale is a canned pale ale that uses Grains of Paradise to spice up the beer and is actually party of the mountain gorilla's diet. The beer is also a fundraiser for the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund with 50% of all the beer's profits going to the MGCF.
