Uncorked Kitchen Makes Wine Accessible With New Series of Wine Classes

Denver may have a reputation for the production of various kinds of fermented goodness, but the wine scene often gets lost in all the talk of cider, beer, and spirits.

The Mile High City is home to plenty of wineries, and the area sports some of the nation’s foremost experts on the stuff. If you’ve been thinking about expanding your knowledge of the grape, consider taking a wine class.

Uncorked Kitchen—one of Denver’s newest dining venues and wine bars—will start offering sessions where everyone from enthusiasts to rookies can learn about labels, lists, grape varietals, and wine-producing regions.

“Gone are the days when wine classes are just for certifying sommeliers,” said Eric Robbins, owner of Uncorked Kitchen. “At Uncorked Kitchen, we want to teach participants about wine in a fun, casual environment and give them practical knowledge that they can use at home, restaurants and dinner parties.”

The classes will be taught by Shari Schneider, founder of Divine Bar wine bar and Vino-Versity wine classes in New York. Class costs start at $44 and include seven tastings. All classes run from 6:30–8:30 PM.

“Students of Uncorked Kitchen's wine classes can expect to laugh and be entertained in the most un-snobby atmosphere they will ever find,” Schneider says. “They will also be able to confidently order from even the most extensive wine lists and fully understand any article about the wine subject they just took, and actually follow every word.”

April 6 - “Grape’s Anatomy,” Total Wine Basics for Rookies & Intermediates
April 13 - “Bubbles & Squeak” Champagne & Sparkling Wines
April 20 - “Wine War: California vs France” A look at the movies 'Sideways’ & ‘Bottle Shock’
April 27 - “Rockin’ Red Rossos of Italy!”
