Where to Watch the 141st Kentucky Derby in Baltimore

Post time for the Kentucky Derby on May 2 might not be until 6:24 PM, but we think Derby Day is a perfect excuse for some day drinking. Plenty of local watering holes clearly agree with us with parties and specials happening all over town.

Pimlico
Where better to watch the race than at Baltimore’s own race track at Pimlico? From 12:30–6:30 PM, the Kentucky Derby Day party will feature live racing, live music, all the action from Churchill Downs and bites like pit beef, bbq, chicken, sandwiches, burgers, vegetable kabobs and crab cake sandwiches. Of course, Mint Juleps and Black-Eyed Susans will be available in souvenir glasses too for $9. (5201 Park Heights Ave.; 410-542-9400)

B&O American Brasserie
For each of the Triple Crown races, B&O decorates the bar with trademark horse and jockey bottle tops from the Blanton's Bourbon bottles and features the appropriate cocktail for the event, which means Mint Juleps on May 2, of course! (2 N Charles St.; 443-692-6172)

Nickel Taphouse
NT will be showing the race and serving up $1 oysters, $6 Mint Juleps and offering happy hour beer specials ($3 Evolution "shoopers" and $4 craft cans) from open until the end of the race. (1604 Kelly Ave.; 443-869-6240)

Wit and Wisdom
The waterfront Four Seasons bar is the perfect spot in Harbor East to don your fanciest hat and watch the race while bartenders stir up Mint Juleps all day long. (200 International Dr.; 410-576-5800)

Family Meal
You can sip $6 Mint Juleps all day at this Inner Harbor retreat. And if that wasn't enough, you can also catch a preview of Family Meal's new bar bite and happy hour menus which will be available from 3–6 PM starting Monday. (621 E Pratt St.; 410-601-3242)

Birroteca
Birroteca will be celebrating Derby Day by showing the race as well as serving both classic Mint Juleps and a Blackberry Basil Julep. They will also have happy hour at the bar from open through the end of the race including $3.50 Evolution Craft Brewing drafts and $5 glasses of wine. (1520 Clipper Rd.; 443-708-1934)
