Baltimore's Best Dog Friendly Bars for the Dog Days of Summer

Sure, you could go to happy hour without your pup, but what fun is that? With weather this gorgeous, give yourself a chance to garner some compliments on how doggone cute your furry friend is while happy houring together. Maybe she’ll even pick up a new friend or two while you enjoy your brew. Here are a few places around Charm City where you can partake with your pooch.

Boathouse Canton: Canton is known for being one the most dog friendly neighborhoods in town, so it’s no surprise that this newcomer to the food and drink scene along the Canton waterfront welcomes pups at its outdoor dining area. Sip on a classy cocktail or throw back shooters with some oysters from the raw bar all alongside your four legged friend who may just be sipping on the water brought out by one of the dog-loving servers. Kisling’s: This Charm City mainstay is the home to Baltimore’s Best Wings (so says their website url, but we also happen to agree) as well as outdoor seating that welcomes the well behaved pooch. While Fido snoozes under the shade of the table’s umbrella, enjoy daily specials (like half-priced crab cakes on Tuesdays) and a seasonal draft brew or $5 crush. (2100 Fleet St.; 410-327-5477)

V-No: Fell’s Point is a popular destination for drinkers and dog lovers alike. Mosey down Ann Street to waterfront V-No and snag a table at this cute wine bar just a bit away from heavily travelled Thames Street. Fuzzy friends are clearly no afterthought here, with a doggy dish already outside for thirsty pups. Have just a glass, or share a bottle from their plentiful selection (they are a shop, too) and enjoy the view while your best bud relaxes too. (905 South Ann St.; 410-342-8466)

Blue Pit BBQ and Whiskey: With over 60 varieties of whiskey and a variety of sausages, we thought Blue Pit was already a pretty stellar destination. Now, with outdoor seating that welcomes dogs, Blue Pit is the whole package. Take the pooch to check them out on Monday or Tuesday and take part in the all night happy hour. Kooper’s Tavern: Named for the owners’ Yellow Lab, Kooper’s is one of the dog friendliest spots in Baltimore. Sidle up with the pup to any of the outdoor tables and enjoy some of the best people watching in Baltimore while enjoying a brew from their impressive list or noshing on their award winning burgers. City Cafe: With some of the best outdoor seating in Mt. Vernon, City Cafe is the place on this side of town to quench your thirst with your dog by your side. Offering 10 beers on draft with over a dozen more by the bottle, the bar has a quality selection of local beer and other craft brews as well. Wine lovers can rejoice with the majority of the list being offered by either the glass or the bottle. For cocktails, City Cafe does it right with a fabulous selection of classic cocktails like a Dark and Stormy, Moscow Mule or Sazerac, but also gets funky with drinks like Hot In The City (honey whiskey, cinnamon whiskey, spiced simple syrup and organic cider) or the barrel aged Mountain High (Hudson Corn Whiskey, Campari and Sweet Vermouth).
