What Your Choice of Drink Says About You

by Sonie Guseh on Oct 19, 2016 in Culture

Ever wonder what type of drink to order to give off a certain vibe at a bar or party? According to a recent Budweiser survey, men and women who drink beers are seen as more approachable than those who choose any other drink type.

For those who strategize about what type of drink to order depending on the circumstance, you’re not alone—according to the survey, 20% of Americans actively consider how their drink selection will be perceived by others while they’re out with friends, and they’re even more likely to strategize while out at a work event (39%) or on a date (34%).

The survey results show that domestic beers have an edge on imported ones when it comes to seeming approachable; however, all beer types trump wine (coming in third place) and margaritas (fourth) as approachable drink types.

New Yorkers are even more prone to place weight on their drink of choice. 61% of nationwide surveyers say the drink a person chooses at a bar offers clues and insight into his or her personality; that number goes up to 68% among those in the state of New York.

But at the end of the day, your drink choice is your own personal decision, and there are so many great cocktails and beers of choice that it’s pretty tough to go wrong.
