Ben & Jerry's and New Belgium Unite to Bring Delicious Collaborations to Life While Fighting Global Warming

by Alexander Frane on Oct 27, 2015 in Beer

In some delicious news, New Belgium Brewery and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream are coming together to create a new flavor of each of their products: Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale  and the Salted Caramel Brown-ie Ale ice cream, respectively. And it’s all to combat global climate change.

The ale is the classic New Belgium brown ale with the addition of some chocolatey salted caramel and a little vanilla. The ice cream is infused with New Belgium brown ale, and filled with fudge brownies and salted caramel trails. While both are intended as great products on their own, they are better paired together, as the notes in each bring out the flavors in the other.

While ice cream with beer may sound a bit odd, chocolate and hops compliment each other surprisingly well, and salt naturally helps bring out the sweetness of both caramel and malt. In fact, ice cream and beer pair so well together, that in addition to this pairing, Ben & Jerry’s has compiled a pairing list of its products with other New Belgium beers. There is even the suggestion of a ‘pour-over’, adding a few ounces of the beer to a scoop of ice-cream for the ultimate pairing.

As both companies are B-corps (organizations recognized for their devotion to standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency), they are donating a portion of the proceeds to Protect Our Winters, an organization of winter-sports athletes devoted to saving their favorite season from the ravages of global warming. Check out the promo video below and let us know on Facebook or Twitter if you come across either of these decadent collaborations.
