311 Releasing an Amber Ale with Rock Brothers and Nebraska Brewing

Further proving that hops are a close cousin to marijuana, the band 311 will be jumping into the beer trade. The band has teamed up with Rock Brothers Brewing in Tampa (and, by extension, Rock Brothers’ partner Cigar City) as well as Nebraska Brewing to brew their very own—you guessed it—Amber ale. While the beer has no name as of yet, the quality of breweries behind it will insure it won’t be a Grassroots project, and it should make its way to beer stores everywhere pretty quickly.

While it’s hard to get excited about an amber ale these days, the brewers have said they will be using ingredients you wouldn’t usually find in an amble, which will be a real Uplifter if all the ingredients can find any kind of Unity together once they get All Mixed Up. While nothing has been confirmed, it seems the plan will be to have the beer ready for the band’s two night stand in Las Vegas on July 3-4.

It doesn’t seem that the band, at this point, will have anything to do with the beer other than lending their name to the project. It sometimes seems to be a cop out for a band to have No Control over the finished product, but if they don’t know anything about the brewing process you could have a real Beautiful Disaster on your hands. It’s getting harder and harder to Come Original when it comes to beer brewing, and if a band you’re working with messes something up, you don’t want to have to Reconsider Everything, so it’s probably best if they remain hands-off.

Regardless of who makes it and which band it’s associated with, though, know that we’ll always be down, down to try a new beer.
